General

1. What is LIVE ON PURPOSE?

LIVE ON PURPOSE LIMITED (UEN 202014316N) is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee. We are a tech enabler, using technology to make giving and helping others easy, through a mobile app. In affluent Singapore, most of us have the desire to help others in need, but busy lives and packed schedules distract us from helping to our fullest potential.

We hope to build a community that encourages caring for one another and lending a helping hand.

2. I want to help others. How do I join the LIVE ON PURPOSE community?

STEP 1: Download the LIVE ON PURPOSE App from the App Store or Google Play.

STEP 2: Set up your account and tell us which causes you are passionate about.

STEP 3: Set your giving goals. You’re all set!

3. How does it work?

LIVE ON PURPOSE collaborates with Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs), who post needs on the LIVE ON PURPOSE App. If you are passionate about helping children, for example, we will ping you when there is a child in need. You may receive a story like this:

Meng has no school shoes. He got into trouble at school for wearing slippers, and now he is afraid to go to school. Help Meng go to school with a new pair of school shoes!

Donate $32.95

If the story resonates with you, just click “I can help”, and follow a few simple steps to help Meng.

Givers

1. How does LIVE ON PURPOSE give my donation to the beneficiary?

If you are meeting a specific need (eg. buying school shoes), your donation goes directly to our e-commerce partner, who sends the item (eg. school shoes) directly to the beneficiary.

If you are donating cash to a VWO, your donation goes directly to the VWO.

LIVE ON PURPOSE values transparency. You have the right to know how your donation is used.

2. How do I know whether the beneficiary has received my help?

LIVE ON PURPOSE will notify you via the app once the beneficiary has received your help.

3. Does LIVE ON PURPOSE keep a percentage of my donation as a service fee?

No. 100% of your donation goes to meeting the beneficiary’s need or to the VWO, according to your choice.

If you wish to donate to LIVE ON PURPOSE, you can add on at Checkout, or find us under Organisations on the App. We would be most grateful for your support.

4. What types of personal data does LIVE ON PURPOSE collect from individual donors?

LIVE ON PURPOSE only collects your name and mobile number, where the latter is needed for verification purposes. LIVE ON PURPOSE will not sell any personal information to third parties.

5. How do I track my donations?

You can check your Journey on Purpose under your Profile. Check out your Purpose Tree that will grow with each donation you make!

6. Are my donations tax deductible and automatically included in my tax assessment?

Cash donations (which includes meeting specific needs) made to an approved Institution of a Public Character (IPC) or the Singapore Government for causes that benefit the local community are tax deductible donations. If you would like to opt for auto-inclusion in your tax assessment, you would need to provide particulars such as your full name, NRIC, date of donation to the IPC directly. You can store this information in your mobile phone, for easy access each time you give.

Each Story brought to you by LIVE ON PURPOSE will specify whether your donation is tax deductible.

Organisations/ Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs)

1. What organisations does LIVE ON PURPOSE collaborate with?

LIVE ON PURPOSE typically collaborates with VWOs that are non-profit entities based in Singapore.

Some of the VWOs have secured charitable status, some have attained the status of Institutions of a Public Character (IPC), or are in the process of securing such status. You will be able to see this under Stories or Organisations.

This gives a level of credibility and assurance to donors.

2. Are all personnel within the VWO able to post needs on LIVE ON PURPOSE?

During the onboarding process of a VWO, the VWO will nominate authorised representatives, who hold a position of trust in the VWO. Only the authorised representatives will be given accounts to post needs on LIVE ON PURPOSE. This is to ensure authenticity of the needs posted, and safeguard against abuse of the LIVE ON PURPOSE App.

3. What types of needs are the VWO allowed to post?

The VWO will post needs in relation to helping children, ending hunger, empowering women, supporting people suffering from invisible illness/ mental illness, ending homelessness, supporting the differently-abled, taking care of the elderly, helping families, helping migrant workers, taking care of animals, making education accessible and many more.

4. What are the rules of engagement that LIVE ON PURPOSE has with the VWOs?

All VWOs sign a User Agreement with LIVE ON PURPOSE. It is a VWO’s responsibility to verify that needs of beneficiaries are genuine. VWOs are instructed not to provide any personal data of the beneficiaries (no photos, no real names, no address) to LIVE ON PURPOSE. All the names you see in Stories are fictitious, to protect the dignity and privacy of the beneficiaries.

5. I am aware of a VWO that would be interested in partnering with LIVE ON PURPOSE. Who can I reach out to?
